My friend Eve Allram gave me this recipe. Our family has been to her home many times for birthday dinners and these meatballs are usually what we request. They are very tasty.

Sweet and Sour “Meatballs”

1 onion, diced
1 c. cheddar cheese
1 c. pecan meal
1 c. vegeburger*
1 c. bread crumbs
4 eggs
1/2 t. garlic salt
1/2 t. garlic powder

Mix and let stand for 10 minutes. Shape into balls. Grease cookie sheet. Bake for 20-30 minutes at 350.

Sweet and Sour Sauce:

1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2/3 c. butter (or less)
1/2 c. ketchup
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 t. chili powder
1 t. salt
1/2 c. water
Can chunked pineapple (opt.)

Mix, pour over meatballs. May freeze after baking.

*Note: Vegeburger is a canned meatless burger sold by Loma Linda foods. You can purchase it online if you do not have access to it. You may double the recipe for a larger family.
