There’s nothing like cornbread next to a steaming hot bowl of chili! My family loves it warm out of the oven with a little spread of butter and honey drizzled over it. Once in a while one of my children will wake up a little early and bake cornbread before the rest of the family rises. Ohh the smell of fresh-baked cornbread in the morning! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Here’s the recipe I love best for this delightful treat. Enjoy!
Home Baked Cornbread
1 1/4. c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. cornmeal
1/4 c. honey
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1 c. milk (soy milk also works great)
1/4 c. oil
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9-inch square pan. Combine dry ingredients. Stir in milk, oil, and egg, mixing
just until moistened. Pour batter into greased pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick
inserted comes out clean.
